JUMPIN’ THE GUN ON MARDI GRAS
The Hammer meets New Orleans is the best way to describe the latest wonderful disc from local bluesman, Shawn O’Halloran.
Usually seen playing great straight-ahead blues with the Stingrays, Shawn has stepped into the spotlight with some great Cajun-infused, jazzy tunes. There’s a lotta fun, a lotta soul, and a lotta funk!
Joining this party are Paul Panchezak of Trickbag (drums), Lindsay Harnett (guitar and uke), Neil Nickafor (bass), Ed Roth (accordion, keyboards), Leo Sullivan (sax), and Wayne Krawchuck (harmony vocals). The whole package is ably produced by Michael J. Birthelmer.
Shawn O’Halloran has just been nominated at the Hamilton Music Awards, in the Category of Blues Recording of the Year, for the CD “Jumpin’ The Gun On Mardi Gras.” Also, Shawn has just finished mixing his new CD, and it should be on the shelves anytime soon!

The music in this album were pieces I started writing in the early 1980’s as my first rock band “Gonzo Lust Combo” was breaking up. These pieces I have recently finished through the prism of touring over thirty years with the best Rock n’ Roll (Crowbar), Blues (King Biscuit Boy) and R & B bands (The Legendary Platters & Ink Spots) in the country, and mark a return to the original styles in which they were written. I hope you enjoy them.
